Estimados  padres/Dear Parents:

         La Dirección de Orientación permanentemente irá publicando algunas sugerencias en relación a nuestros alumnos, DE SUS HIJOS. Serán textos cortos pero que pueden permitir un diálogo más extenso y profundo.

This is to let you know that we will publish some suggestions related to our students on a permanent basis. These suggestions will be short in length but they may lead to longer discussions at home.

¿QUÉ DEBEN HACER LOS PADRES Y MADRES CUANDO INICIAMOS UN NUEVO AÑO ESCOLAR?

WHAT MUST PARENTS DO AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SCHOOL YEAR?

Fomentar y apoyar el estudio de su hijo/a por medio de:

1.   Procurar un clima familiar libre de tensiones y una actitud comprensiva y dialogante.

2.    Ser conscientes de las capacidades reales del hijo/a y, en consecuencia, estimularle a que logre unos resultados que vayan de acuerdo con sus capacidades.

3.    Relacionar premios y castigos con esfuerzos reales y no sólo con los resultados académicos.

4. Evitar la comparación entre hermanos y/o compañeros.

5. Ayudarle a elaborar su horario de estudio personal y respetarlo. Necesitan al menos dos horas de estudio diarias; cuidado cuando el chico/a dice que no tiene deberes, estudiar no es sólo hacer deberes, el estudio individual no es sustituible por horas de clases particulares o en academias.

6. Mantener contactos periódicos con los profesores del hijo: si éste necesita apoyo o refuerzo en el trabajo escolar, consultar con sus profesores cuál es la mejor manera de hacerlo.

7. Facilitar al hijo/a los recursos materiales necesarios para el estudio.
   Foster and support your child’s study habits by:
   1.   Providing a tension free environment and an understanding attitude that leads to dialogue.
   
   
   2.    Being aware of your child’s real capabilities so as to stimulate him/her to achieve results according to those capabilities.
   
   
   3.    Relating awards and punishments to personal effort and not only to academic achievement.  
   
   
   4. Avoiding comparing your child to siblings or classmates.
   
   
   5. Helping him/her to make his/her own study schedule and to respect it. (students need at least two hours a day). If your child tells you he/she does not have any homework. To study not only implies doinh homework but also to review contents, make notes, investigate, etc. This individual study time is not interchangeable with the time spent in academies or tutoring classes.
   
   
   6. Keeping a daily contact with your child’s teachers: if your child is struggling and needs support or reinforcement in his/her schoolwork, please make sure you get in touch and find out the best way to support your kid.
   
   
   7. Facilitating all supplies he /she needs to study.
